NEW DELHI: Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant made a fine comeback in the competitive arena, after a 14-month hiatus due to a near-fatal car accident, as Delhi Capitals skipper came up with an amazing piece of glove work to dismiss Punjab Kings‘ Jitesh Sharma during the IPL match in Mullanpur, Chandigarh on Saturday.
Pant displayed remarkable sharpness behind the stumps, particularly evident in his adept keeping to left-arm chinaman Kuldeep Yadav.However, the highlight of the day came when Pant exhibited lightning-fast reflexes while dislodging the bails in an attempt to stump Jitesh Sharma.

Despite Jitesh’s initial luck, Pant didn’t let him off the hook the second time around. When Jitesh attempted an ill-advised reverse sweep, Pant seized the moment with lightning-fast reactions. The child-like grin returned to Pant’s face, a testament to his joy in executing such a skillful piece of wicketkeeping.

Earlier, Pant made his return to the competitive cricketing arena after a hiatus of 453 days. His comeback innings lasted 19 minutes, during which he faced 13 balls and scored 18 runs.

However, it was Sam Curran‘s counter-attacking half-century that proved to be the difference-maker in the match. Curran’s explosive innings, comprising a blistering 63 runs off just 47 balls, propelled the Punjab Kings to a thrilling four-wicket victory over the Delhi Capitals.
Supported effectively by compatriot Liam Livingstone, who contributed an unbeaten 38 runs off 21 deliveries, Curran guided Punjab to successfully chase down the target of 175 runs with four balls to spare.
