Realme is set to expand its affordable Narzo lineup with a new smartphone. The Chinese smartphone maker has confirmed that the Realme Narzo 70 Pro 5G smartphone will launch this month. However, the company has not confirmed the exact launch date of the upcoming model.
The company noted that the smartphone will be equipped with the innovative Air Gesture control function.Realme also confirmed that the Narzo 70 Pro 5G will also be India’s first smartphone in the budget segment to feature a Sony IMX890 OIS sensor. Additionally, the upcoming smartphone will also come with a refined software experience and will be available exclusively on e-commerce platform Amazon.

What is Air Gesture control and how will it help users

According to the company, the Air Gesture feature will enable users to navigate through certain features of the smartphone without involving any physical contact. With a diverse range of over ten gesture types, these controls will simulate Android screen operations, providing an improved experience that showcases innovative technology.The Air Gesture feature will help the users in real-world scenarios wherein making physical contact with the phone becomes inconvenient, such as with wet hands, during meals, or with dirty hands.
The gesture controls will also be available to third-party apps, especially in video-related scenarios wherein the Air Gesture will allow users to use their thumb to like a video or use “OK” gestures to add the video to their favourites.
The Air Gesture feature is expected to enhance user interaction by providing a touch-less experience, improving both comfort and overall usability.

Realme’s growth in India

The brand, which was officially established in 2018, claims to have 70+ million users in India. As per IDC Q2 2022 report, Realme climbed to the second spot for a second time, with a YoY growth of 24% (highest among the top five brands) in that year. The company also cemented its second position in the online channel with a 23% share in 2022.
Realme even recorded a QoQ growth of 51% in the second quarter of 2023, as reported by Counterpoint. Additionally, the company secured the third position among the top 10 smartphone brands as per IDC’s rankings for Q2 2023.
