NEW DELHI: RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Monday took repeated digs at Nitish Kumar as he launched a scathing attack on the Bihar chief minister for taking multiple U-turns. Nitish Kumar had last month quit the Mahagathbandan government, which also comprised RJD and Congress, and returned to the BJP-led NDA fold. In 2022, Nitish had dumped the NDA to join hands with the RJD.
In a swipe at Nitish Kumar, Tejashwi quoted the chief minister’s remarks “Mann nhi lag raha tha” which he had made after quitting the Mahagathbandhan and quipped ‘Hum log nachne gaane ke liye thode hai ki apka maan lage (we were not in coalition to sing and dance to entertain you, we had supported you to do work).
Tejashwi asked BJP if Prime Minister Narendra Modi can guarantee that the JD(U) leader will not make another U-turn. “BJP makes big claims about Modi ki guarantee. I want to ask them can PM Modi’s guarantee ensure that Nitish Kumar will not take another U-turn,” Tejashwi asked.
Tejashwi compared Nitish Kumar to “Dashrath” and warned him to be aware of the “Kakeyi” in his fold. The RJD leader reminded the Bihar chief minister of the bitter remarks made against him by the BJP leaders, who are now his deputies in the NDA government. Tejashwi also quoted some of the remarks Nitish Kumar had made while quitting the NDA in 2022 and wondered what had changed from then to now.
“I feel bad for JD(U) MLAs because they will have to go among the public and answer. If someone asks you why Nitish Kumar took oath 3 times, what will you say? Earlier you used to criticise them (BJP) and now you are praising them, what will you say? We (RJD) will say that we have given jobs,” Tejashwi said.
In a bid to embarrass Nitish Kumar, Tejashwi Yadav reminded the chief minister of the bitter spat he had with ex-chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi and said,”In the last session, when Jitan Ram Manjhi presented his views, the CM got angry. Later Manjhi Ji claimed that someone had given Nitish Kumar wrong medicine and that his mental condition was not good and should be treated. Now I have full trust that Manjhi Ji will give Nitish Kumar good medicine.”
