Sikander Kher has floored fans with his tough act of Daulat in ‘Aarya’. All through the three seasons, the actor kept the audience guessing with his mysterious character. His chemistry with Sushmita Sen was also hailed and Aarya Season 3 – Antim Vaar brought along some unexpected twists. In an exclusive chat with ETimes, Sikander Kher opened up about his journey with Aarya, bond with Sushmita Sen and much more… Excerpts:
Daulat has been one of the most loved characters of ‘Aarya’, how do you describe him?
I always felt Daulat was a good guy.I had made a backstory in my head about him on how he entered into Zoravar’s life. Zoravar must have helped his mother when he was a child in some way, must have put him in a school, but Daulat didn’t want to be in school. He probably just wanted to start work. But I think that’s why he owes almost his life to Zoravar and works for him unquestionably. But at the end of the day, I feel that he does have his morals. Daulat will always be the protector. And now I feel that he just owes so much more to Aarya. He’ll be there for her kids, he will take bullets for her. And he’ll be there till his last breath.
It has been over three years now, how would you sum up your journey with Aarya?
My journey is just that a Ram Madhvani project spoils you. They are the best people that I have worked with till date. They give a lot of love and respect to everyone, from the supporting cast to the crew and the actors. So, it has affected me on a human level more than anything professional. I like to be around goodness, so that’s nice.
Beyond the camera, how would you describe your bond with Sushmita
She is always warm! The other day we bumped into each other and she was giving media bites. But the minute she saw me, we hugged and were giving bites together. We’ve spent a lot of time together and she has got a great sense of humor, which takes away half of the pressure. She’s very chill and a strong woman. And she’s been doing it for so many years. It’s always nice to be around her.
What has been your family’s review of Aarya?
My father barely watches stuff, but my mother sees it all. She tells me what she has liked and what she did not. She’ll tell me everything properly.
