Google announced the Magic Compose feature for Messages at the I/O 2023. The company started rolling out the feature initially in the US and now it is expanding it to more regions. 9to5Google has reported that the Magic Compose feature is now rolling out to several regions other than the US.
The feature is currently available only in English on Android devices. Also, based on the reports, the feature has started surfacing in France and UK.
Magic Compose in Google Messages rolling out globally
The exact details about the regions aren’t available, but it appears to be a wider rollout with the feature being made available in several countries. However, it is still in beta and the final rollout is expected to happen in the coming months.
The user interface has also changed slightly with the integration of this feature. The Magic Compose option is placed at the left of the old Compose UI around the emoji shortcut on the newly redesigned text field.
The Magic Compose is denoted by the “Pencil” and “Sparkle” icons. Tapping on it automatically curates up to 20 last messages along with emojis, reactions and URLs to generate a relevant and contextual response.
Messages that have attachments, voice messages and images remain on the device and they aren’t shared with Google. Not sure, but image captions may get shared with the Google server.
It is also to be noted that once the responses are generated, the Google server deletes the shared data forever and they aren’t stored to train artificial intelligence or machine learning models.
Once the responses are generated, users get a list of all the suggestions. Users also have the option to tune the syntax of the message and they get options like Remix, Excited, Chill, Shakespeare, Lyrical, Formal, or Short.
