GUWAHATI: A forester of Kaziranga National Park was allegedly abused on the phone by the SP of Assam’s Golaghat district and detained on Thursday night for not being able to arrange safari tickets for the police officer’s family.
CM Himanta Biswa Sarma spoke to DGP GP Singh and directed him to look into the complaint by forester Tarun Gogoi against the SP, Rajen Singh. “We do not endorse arrogance and it is important for public servants to remain humble,” Sarma said.
“I told him that it is not possible to deprive any tourist and requested him to pick another date. But he abused me and threatened me with arrest. After some time, a police team came to my residence and took me to the Kohora police station at midnight. I was kept there for around three hours. I was hurt. I had almost decided to resign from my service,” Gogoi alleged.
