Australia’s star opener David Warner will be absent from the upcoming T20I series against India as he has been withdrawn from the squad following the team’s victorious campaign in the ODI World Cup 2023, as reported by ESPNcricinfo.
Warner, 37, joins a list of other Australian players who will be sidelined for the T20I series, leading up to the three-match Test series against Pakistan from December 14.
Notable absentees include World Cup-winning captain Pat Cummins and his fellow fast bowlers Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc, as well as all-rounders Cameron Green and Mitchell Marsh.

In the just-concluded World Cup, Warner had an impressive run with the Australian squad, amassing 535 runs in 11 innings with a strike rate of 108.29.
To fill the void, all-rounder Aaron Hardie has been included in the T20I squad. Additionally, Kane Richardson will replace Spencer Johnson in the T20I series due to a hamstring injury.
Despite the short turnaround after the ODI World Cup final on November 19, the T20I series serves as part of the preparation for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Australia are scheduled to play six more T20I series before the commencement of next year’s showpiece T20 event to be co-hosted by the West Indies and the USA.
Matthew Wade, the 35-year-old Australian wicketkeeper-batsman, will lead the visitors in the upcoming T20I series against India. The first match is set to take place at Visakhapatnam on November 23, merely four days after the conclusion of the World Cup, where hosts India lost to the Aussies in the final.
