NEW DELHI: Amid speculations of internal discord within the Congress party ahead of upcoming assembly elections in Rajasthan, former deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot emphasised on Sunday that his party upholds collective leadership.
Pilot affirmed that individual responsibilities in the state will be decided once the party returns to power.
“We respect each other and believe in collective leadership.We will fight the polls united and after securing a majority, our MLAs and the party will decide who to delegate responsibilities to. If anyone has any problem with this system, he should take it up with the leadership and sort things out. This has always been the tradition, policy, and history of our party,”Pilot told ANI.

“Our mindset and objective is to fight the elections unitedly and win a majority mandate. Should the people bless us back to power, we will sit across the table and decide who should do what. The same procedure was followed in 2018 and will be repeated this year as well. However, our first priority is to win a majority,” he said.
Rajasthan will go to polls in a single phase on November 25 and the votes will be counted on December 3.
Gehlot and Pilot have been in tussle for power during the Congress rule of five years. The party has now projected a united face.
The Congress in Rajasthan had to face embarrassment in the run up to the assembly elections as the two top leaders openly targeted each other after Sachin Pilot’s revolt against Ashok Gehlot. Pilot failed to unseat Gehlot and lost his position of deputy chief minister and state Congress chief. However, the Congress managed to convince him to stay in the party. Several attempts to broker peace between the two leaders failed and at one stage Pilot sat on protest against his own government.
