The sudden demise of filmmaker Sanjay Gadhvi has sent shockwaves across the industry. From Abhishek Bachchan to Sanjay Gupta, John Abraham to Kunal Shah, the industry is mourning the loss of Dhoom director. ETimes got in touch with Viveck Vaswani who knew Sanjay very closely. “Sanjay Gadhvi was not just my friend but he was also my junior at Campion school,” he said.
“When I was making Gawaahi, towards the end of that one day he just came to my office and said that I want to assist you.But I told him, ‘You want to be a director, I am a producer.’ He said, ‘I will assist you when the next film starts, which happened to bePatthar Ke Phool. He started assisting Anant Balani. He was a very good assistant. In fact all the skating scenes of Salman were actually done by Sanjay Gadhvi,” Vivek shared.
Sanjay Gadhvi had directed the blockbuster film Dhoom in 2004 and Dhoom 2 in 2006. He made his directorial debut with Tere Liye in 2000. Some of his known projects include films like Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai, Tere Liye, Kidnap, and Ajab Gazabb Love. He made his OTT debut in 2020 with Operation Parindey.
“I will miss him. I am very badly hurt today. He was a friend and someone who I knew for forty years,” said Viveck.
