NEW DELHI: Virat Kohli‘s wife and Bollywood star Anushka Sharma couldn’t contain her emotions when he achieved his historic 50th ODI hundred during the World Cup semi-final against New Zealand on Wednesday.
Anushka enthusiastically expressed her joy by going crazy, blowing flying kisses and cheering for Kohli as he surpassed the legendary Sachin Tendulkar‘s record for the most ODI centuries.

Kohli notched up his century, the third in this World Cup, by taking a two off fast bowler Lockie Ferguson. It took him 106 balls, during which he hit eight fours and a six.
What made the moment even more special was achieving this feat on his former India teammate’s home ground, with Tendulkar, a childhood hero and fellow 2011 World Cup-winner, among those applauding at the Wankhede Stadium. Kohli paid homage to Tendulkar by bowing towards him in acknowledgment.

“Sachin was there in the stands, my hero. My life partner and all these fans at the Wankhede,” said Kohli.
This was Kohli’s 279th ODI innings, with the former India captain having also scored a further 71 fifties in addition to his 50 hundreds.
