From posting pictures of family celebrations to being spotted at parties in beautiful traditional outfits – Sara Ali Khan has been enjoying the Diwalifestivities. When it comes to family time, the Atrangi Re actress celebrates Diwali in two homes. She shares, “It begins with spending as much time as I can with my mother (Amrita Singh) and my brother (Ibrahim). Mom and I enjoy decorating our house, we make rangolis, light the house with diyas and do Lakshmi puja.Then, I head to my father’s (Saif Ali Khan) home. I have two lovely homes, and it is important to celebrate, love and brighten them both.”
‘My favourite Diwali memories are of our home in Pataudi’
Recalling memories of spending the festival at her family home in Pataudi, Sara says, “My brother and I used to spend time with our entire family in Pataudi. Being there with badi amma (grandmother Sharmila Tagore), my aunts and parents, and subsequently with my father, has always been lovely. Pataudi is our ancestral home, and Diwali there was all about celebrating over food, fun and laughter with family.”‘The first Diwali party I attended was probably at the Bachchans’
Talking about Diwali parties in Bollywood, she says, “The first Diwali party I attended was probably with my mother and brother at the Bachchans’ home. There are other Diwali parties, like Abu-Sandeep’s (Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla) and Manish’s (Malhotra) parties, that we go to. It is always nice to celebrate with your industry friends.”
The actress, who is currently in festive mode, is excited about her upcoming release, Ae Watan Mere Watan, a film about the Indian freedom struggle. “It’s a film we have all worked on with a lot of love and is personal to us,” she signs off.
‘Besan laddoos are my favourite’
“Besan ke laddoos are my personal favourite and my mom loves imartis. My closest friend comes from Delhi and brings the sweets for us,” she says.
