Gunshots rang out in the early hours of Sunday, outside Salman Khan’s Mumbai apartment stirring up concern and sparking a flurry of activity. Let’s take a closer look at what unfolded and what it means for the Bollywood superstar and his family.
April 14, 2024 – Firing at Galaxy Apartment
On Sunday, April 14, 2024, at 5 am, gunshots were fired by two unidentified men outside Salman Khan’s Bandra house – Galaxy Apartments.According to the reports, four rounds of fire outside the house by the motorbike-borne men. Soon after Mumbai Police Crime Branch cops and forensic team reached the location for investigation.
The unclear CCTV footage
As soon as the investigation started, the cops were able to dig into the CCTV footage. However, in the initial probe, it was hard to recognize the faces of the suspects and the bike registration number as the footage was not clear and the men had their faces covered by helmet.

In a statement, a crime branch official mentioned, “The CCTV footage quality is very poor, and it was dark, so the bike’s registration number was not clear. Both the rider and the pillion rider were wearing helmets. We are taking the help of technical experts to clear CCTV footage and get a few leads in the matter.”
FIR registration
Panchanama was conducted on the spot by the Bandra police. The statement was recorded of the people who heard the gunshots. The FIR has been registered under section 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Arms Act, against an “unidentified person”. Further, reports suggest that the police recovered a two-wheeler not so far from Salman’s residence.
Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde assures that the accused will be arrested soon
Salman Khan was in his house when the firing took place. As of now, security for him and his entire family has been increased. Reacting to the matter, Maharashtra’s Chief Minister Eknath Shinde had a word with Salman Khan. ANI reported that in a conversation with them CM expressed, “The firing that happened outside Salman Khan’s home, this is an unfortunate incident. Police are investigating it. The accused will be caught very soon and stringent action will be taken against them. Those who take the law into their own hands won’t be spared. Mumbai Police Commissioner has been informed to assess the security of Salman Khan and his entire family & increase the security.”

Salman Khan’s father Salim Khan’s reaction
The incident shook the entire industry and Salman Khan’s fans and everyone wanted to know about his and his family’s well-being. Thus, amid the chaos when Salman’s friend Rahul Naraina Kanal told the paps that with God’s blessings bhai was safe, everyone had a sigh of relief. Moreover, talking to CNN News18, Salim Khan reacted that this was a publicity stunt by the attackers and there is nothing to worry about.

Infamous gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s brother Anmol Bishnoi took responsibility for the firing
While the investigation is still in progress an unverified Facebook post allegedly by gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s brother Anmol Bishnoi left everyone in shock. In the post allegedly Anmol took responsibility for the matter and wrote “We want peace. If the only decision against oppression is war, then so be it. Salman Khan, we have only shown you a trailer so that you understand the magnitude of our strength and do not test it. This is the first and last warning. Also, we have two pet dogs named after Dawood Ibrahim and Chhota Shakeel, whom you consider your Gods. I don’t want to say much. Jai Shri Ram!”
Friends and family reach Salman’s apartment
After the unsettling attack, a wave of solidarity swept through the Bollywood community and beyond. As the investigation concluded, close associates including Baba Siddique and Rahul Kanal visited Khan to offer support. Joining them were Salman’s brothers, Sohail and Arbaaz Khan, with their families, including Arbaaz’s wife, Sshura Khan, son Arhaan Khan, and sister Arpita Khan with her husband Aayush Sharma. The presence of politician Raj Thackeray and actor Mahesh Manjrekar further highlighted the outpouring of solidarity.

Addressing concerns about the well-being of Khan and his family, Zafar Sareshwala, a close friend of the actor, reassured the public that they are coping well despite the harrowing incident. Sareshwala emphasized that Salman’s father, Salim Khan, remained composed even as the attackers struck while he was preparing for his routine morning walk. Reflecting on Salim Khan’s response, Sareshwala stated, “This is our answer. They’ve done this to terrorize and scare us… The only answer to them is to normalize it. Everybody was normal. Salma Aunty was normal, and Salman was at ease.”

Amidst the aftermath, images purportedly showing the assailants before the attack circulated online, sparking widespread concern. Reportedly, the individuals captured on a bike before the incident were later spotted in the vicinity, raising questions about the perpetrators’ identities and motives.
Case handed over to Mumbai Crime Branch
In a recent development, the case has been transferred to the Mumbai Crime Branch, with over 10 teams dedicated to the investigation. Mumbai Police disclosed that since 2022, Salman Khan has been under Y+ security cover, a precautionary measure provided by the Maharashtra Police.
