NEW DELHI: Delhi Capitals faced a setback, succumbing to a 29-run defeat against Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium in their fifth IPL 2024 match.
Despite Tristan Stubbs‘s valiant 71 off 25 balls, Delhi fell short, posting 205/8 in response to Mumbai’s imposing 234/5.

Assistant coach Pravin Amre acknowledged the challenge, stating, “In this format, it’s always those last five overs that are critical.” Reflecting on the positives, he added, “I’m proud of the way we batted.”

Addressing the team’s injury woes, Amre emphasized their impact on performance, saying, “We have to start well in this particular tournament, but injuries have impacted us.”

Looking ahead, Amre highlighted the competitive nature of the IPL, expressing optimism despite setbacks.”Any team can beat anyone. One biggest plus is we beat CSK, and we have that credential,” he said.

However, he stressed the need for improvement in all departments, particularly bowling, to secure consecutive victories. “We have to work on our bowling, it has to fire, then only we can win back-to-back matches,” he concluded.
Delhi Capitals will face Lucknow Super Giants in their next match at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on Friday.
