NEW DELHI: Rajasthan Royals showcased their dominance at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, clinching a six-wicket victory against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the IPL. Assistant coach Shane Bond hailed Jos Buttler‘s remarkable century in his 100th game, despite battling illness for the past two days.
“It is great to see Buttler back in form. We were winning games without much contribution from the openers, but they were striking the ball well in the nets.We all knew it was a matter of time before they scored. Buttler had been sick for the last two days and coming straight from the bed and scoring a century is an incredible effort,” Bond expressed during the post-match press conference.

Reflecting on the match, Bond acknowledged the challenging start but commended the team’s resilience in restricting RCB to a manageable total. “It was not the best start for us. But we are lucky to have really nice five bowlers. We restricted them to 180-something and felt we were in the game. (Ravichandran) Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal did not give away too much runs. The wicket was nice. It had something for bowlers if you changed the pace at the right areas or used the right bounce,” he added.

Praising Virat Kohli‘s century, Bond acknowledged the batter’s prowess as a “great technician” while also admiring Buttler’s versatile batting style. “I really enjoy watching Virat going about his work, but it is frustrating when you are at the receiving end. Jos scores in various areas of the park, and has a lot of power. These are two different players and fantastic to watch,” Bond remarked.

In the match, RCB’s formidable opening partnership between Faf Du Plessis and Virat Kohli failed to propel them to a commanding total, as they settled for 183/3. Despite Reece Topley‘s impressive bowling (2/27), Jos Buttler’s unbeaten century guided RR to victory with five balls to spare.

Buttler’s outstanding performance earned him the ‘Player of the Match’ award. With RR securing their fourth consecutive win, they sit comfortably at the top of the table with eight points. In contrast, RCB’s struggles continue as they languish at the eighth spot with only two points from five matches.
