NEW DELHI: Despite a subdued start in this year’s Indian Premier League, Jos Buttler‘s former teammate, Stuart Broad, remains confident in the England white-ball captain’s ability to bounce back.
Buttler, who will lead England’s T20 World Cup title defence, has faced challenges, managing only 35 runs in three matches for the Rajasthan Royals.
Broad, speaking to Star Sports, acknowledged Buttler’s recent lean patch but expressed optimism about his turnaround, stating, “Although he hasn’t quite found his form in this tournament yet, he’s been dismissed twice by some pretty good bowling.I think this will be the tournament where he plays well.”

Highlighting Buttler’s crucial partnership with Yashasvi Jaiswal at the top of the order, Broad emphasized their potential to steer the Rajasthan Royals towards the playoffs or even challenge for the trophy if they both find their rhythm.

While Buttler was IPL‘s Most Valuable Player in 2022, his form dipped in 2023, and he faced challenges at the 50-overs World Cup in India last year. Broad urged patience, stating, “I think we need to be patient with him. Once he starts facing a lot of balls, he’s going to score a lot of runs in this tournament.”
As Buttler aims to rediscover his form in the IPL, his performances hold significant weight ahead of the T20 World Cup, where he shoulders the responsibility of leading England’s campaign.
