NEW DELHI: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday said the upcoming Lok Sabha elections were just a formality as people have already made up their minds to bless Prime Minister Modi. “It’s a formality that every 5 years we have to vote, otherwise there was no need of this election because people have already made up their mind to bless Prime Minister Narendra Modi so it is just an election for formality’s sake,” the Assam chief minister said.
The senior BJP leader said this election is to re-elect Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “People of India want PM Modi to continue and lead India towards Amrit Kaal. I don’t think there are any other issues in this election,” he said.
Himanta Sarma had on Monday claimed that most of the Congress leaders in the state will switch to the BJP if he dials them once. “The majority of Congress members in Assam are ready to switch sides, and join the BJP. Since it is hard to accommodate all in the party, I refrain from doing so,” he had said.
