NEW DELHI: A day after CM Arvind Kejriwal was remanded to a 15-day judicial custody in a money laundering case, AAP MLAs met his wife Sunita Kejriwal on Tuesday and emphasised that the AAP national convener should continue to run the govt from inside the jail.
The AAP legislators said that Arvind Kejriwal had the full support of the two crore people of Delhi.
“The MLAs made it clear that under no circumstances should Kejriwal resign from his position as the Chief Minister. They asserted that the Delhi govt should continue its operations, even if it means running it from behind bars,” a senior AAP leader said.
Of 62 MLAs in Delhi, 55 met Sunita Kejriwal while four were out of Delhi. Three including Kejriwal,former deputy CM Manish Sisodia and former health minister Satyendar Jain are in jail.
This meeting comes in the wake of Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest on March 21 in excise policy linked money laundering case. Following his arrest, Kejriwal was under ED custody for 11-days and was remanded to judicial custody until April 15 on Monday.
In response to her husband’s arrest, Sunita Kejriwal has stepped up to maintain the communication with the public and the media. She has conducted three digital media briefings to keep the public informed about the situation and to rally support.
She was at the centre stage of the the INDIA bloc rally, was organised at Ramlila Maidan on Sunday where she read a message from her husband written from the ED custody.
