BOLPUR: An ED team left Bengal MSME minister Chandranath Sinha’s Nayekpara residence in Bolpur on Saturday after conducting searches for 14 hours. Sources said the agency seized Rs 41 lakh in cash, the minister’s cellphone and documents after questioning Sinha for nine hours since Friday.
Investigators seized the cash after the minister allegedly couldn’t give them a satisfactory answer to why such a large amount was lying stacked in his house.ED sources said Sinha also couldn’t substantiate the source of the cash.
ED officers reached Sinha’s residence on Friday as part of the investigation into the alleged primary teacher recruitment scam.
