NEW DELHI: Senior leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) raised concerns on Saturday regarding the alleged “sealing” of the party’s office in Delhi, vowing to bring the matter to the attention of the Election Commission.
AAP leader Atishi took to social media platform X to express dismay over the apparent closure of the party’s office, and questioned the “sealing” of the office, saying it goes against the concept of having a “level playing field” in elections as promised by the Constitution.
“How can access to a national party’s office be stopped during the Lok Sabha election? This goes against the ‘level playing field’ promised in the Indian Constitution. We are seeking time with the Election Commission to complain against this,” Atishi said in her post.

Another AAP leader, Saurabh Bharadwaj, accused the Union government of obstructing all access to the party’s office, emphasizing the significance of maintaining fairness, especially during the Model Code of Conduct period. “We will approach EC. The Central government has closed all access to AAP head office at ITO, that too in Model Code of Conduct,” he said in a post on X.
During a press conference, Bharadwaj said that the Election Commission should act as a neutral institution and ensure strict action against police officers.

The AAP office, located at DDU Marg near ITO in central Delhi, reportedly faced blockades on Friday during a protest staged by party leaders and volunteers near the BJP headquarters. Bharadwaj highlighted that ministers, including himself and Atishi, were prevented from accessing the party office, questioning the rationale behind sealing a national party’s office during elections.
He also claimed that the vehicle in which Atishi was going home was stopped by the police.
In a video shared on X, Atishi could be seen engaging in a heated exchange with a Delhi Police officer while AAP leaders staged a protest on the road in response to being denied access by authorities.

Bharadwaj accused the police of barricading the AAP office and reiterated the party’s intent to lodge a formal complaint with the Election Commission regarding the matter. He asserted that the AAP office was cordoned off from all sides on Friday, with no individuals permitted entry.
The developments come in the wake of AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal’s recent arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with a money-laundering case linked to the erstwhile excise policy of the Delhi government. Kejriwal has been remanded to Enforcement Directorate custody until March 28.
