JIND: Family members of six young people of Mataur village of Haryana‘s Kaithal district are in deep shock after one of them got bullet injuries at a Russian border while fighting with Ukraine army and now fearing for their well being.
Family members of these persons stranded in Russia including one who sustained bullet injuries urged the Indian embassy and central government to rescue them.Notably, six young persons aged around 21 went to Russia January of this year after their agents assured them to provide a helper job in the army but allegedly they were forced to fight with Ukraine soldiers at the forefront.
Their kin alleged that their agents promised them to give tasks like an assistant only but officials of the Russian army made a forceful contract in local language to fight at first line along with their soldiers.
Sahil’s (21) family members informed that he made a contact with a local agent in Haryana to get work in foreign country. “Thereafter, the agent asked him to pay Rs 10 lakh following which we sold half an acre of land and sent him to Russia on January 25. We were unaware that he would be forced to take part in war. He was forcefully sent to the border where the latter got bullet injuries on his leg. We got a call from a Russian hospital staff member who told us about his injuries. He is going under treatment at the hospital and we have urged the Indian government, ministry of home affairs and embassy several times but didn’t get any concrete solution so far,” said his brother.
Apart from Sahil, Ravi, Mohit, Manjeet, Baldev and Rajender of the same village are seeking to come back to India. They all were assured to get a job of helper but were forced to join the Russian army forcefully. They just took training for 15 days and were asked to take arms in their hands to fight with Ukraine soldiers at borders. When contacted Indian embassy officials, they said that efforts are being made to bring them back, said a family member.
