Meta keeps adding new features to improve the calling experience on its instant messaging platform — WhatsApp. Recently, it added a new expanded group call support, call scheduling and Call link features to make it easier for users to make calls. Now, the company is planning to take things forward by integrating its call list with Google Phone app, the native calling app for Android.
A X user has reported that WhatsApp is working on integrating WhatsApp call lists with Phone apps. If you are unaware, WhatsApp Call log does not appear in the Phone app which makes users to open WhatsApp to checkout the recent call details like missed calls, received calls, etc.
What this integration means for users
As mentioned, the WhatsApp call list will start appearing within the Phone app. That means, users can check WhatsApp call log without opening the app, directly from the Phone app.
The feature isn’t new. WhatsApp is already integrated with the iPhone’s Phone app. T Offering users the option to check out all the call details from WhatsApp under a single umbrella.
According to the report, WhatsApp calls will appear within the Phone app with a Green WhatsApp tag in the call log. This will allow users to differentiate between the regular calls and WhatApp calls.
The feature could extend to other VoIP apps
Exact rollout details aren’t clear about the integration. However, as per the screenshot shared by the X users, WhatsApp calls appear within the Phone app. Which means, the Phone app could also show calls from other VoIP apps like Skype, Telegram, Signal, etc.
