Apple is usually very conservative when it comes to overhauling the design elements along with the overall UI of the iPhone’s operating system. Mark Gurman, in this latest “Power On” newsletter has claimed that the next iteration — iOS 18 — is likely to incorporate some big design changes over the previous versions.
What’s changing with iOS 18
While iOS 18 is expected to bring some new features, design updates can take a significant place this time around.Gurman has specified that the changes won’t be similar to the vision OS redesign. The glass textures and 3D buttons won’t make it to iOS 18 as it will be exclusive to visionOS as people need to see through the screen via the passthrough video feature.
Gurman has mentioned in his newsletter that iOS 18 will get some design updates, however, hasn’t mentioned the specifics of the changes. But, he has mentioned that Apple could take some design cues from Vision OS and bring it to iOS 18.
Apart from the iOS 18 redesign, macOS is also expected to see some design changes.
Apple is expected to announce the next iteration of the operating systems at the WWDC 24 event which usually happens in June. At the event, Apple is likely to announce the iOS 18, iPad OS 18, macOS 15, tvOS 18, watchOS 11 and so on.
