Kiran Rao is gearing up for the release of her film ‘Laapataa Ladies,’ which is produced by her ex-partner, actor Aamir Khan. Ahead of its release on March 1, Kiran has shared about the possibility of submitting ‘Laapataa Ladies‘ for the Academy Awards next year.
While attending the screening of the film in Delhi, Kiran said that she is awaiting the audience’s responses for the film, and if both the nation and viewers appreciate this work, that would be the greatest accolade for the makers.
The movie is yet to make its theatrical release, and she promised that if the specific team tasked with assessing and selecting the finest films of the year considers ‘Laapataa Ladies’ worthy enough, then she will submit it for the Oscars.’Laapataa Ladies’ had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in 2023. The movie stars Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Shrivastava, and Chhaya Kadam in important roles.

In the film set in 2001, two young brides find themselves separated during a train journey. As one of them goes missing, Kishan, a police officer, takes on the case, unraveling a mystery that intertwines their fates and tests the limits of his investigative skills.
