Is your Windows PC feeling sluggish lately? With all the apps, files, and background processes running, it’s easy for your system to get bogged down over time. But, Microsoft’s new free PC Manager app makes it simple to reclaim some of that lost speed and also manage a lot of other stuff like security, storage, apps, etc all from just one single app.
What is PC Manager app
PC Manager is a new utility from Microsoft that provides a centralised interface for various optimisation tools built into Windows. It aims to help diagnose and resolve common performance issues.
The recently released app acts as a one-stop shop for features like disk cleanup, startup program management, and storage optimisation that can give your PC a speed boost.
Get the PC Manager app first
The app is available in Microsoft Store. Alternatively, you can download it from the PC Manager website as well and install it on your PC. One thing to note is that the app works on Windows 10 and Windows 11 operating systems only.
Speed up the system with Boost option
The most prominent feature when you open PC Manager is “Boost”. This option provides instant optimisation by swiftly deleting system cache files and temporary internet files that build up over time and gradually impact performance.
With just one click, the Boost function quickly frees up storage space by removing these unnecessary files that accumulate in your system and browser caches. It’s an easy way to quickly reclaim some lost speed.
Check overall PC health
Go to the PC Manager’s Health Check section next. This will thoroughly scan your entire system and identify potential problems impacting performance, security vulnerabilities, driver issues, and other faults. These issues can also cause the system slowdown and performance issues.
Although the deep Health Check analysis takes a while to complete, it then suggests optimisation steps you can take to fix any problems found. This allows you to resolve configuration issues, malware threats, needless background processes, and other bottlenecks that could be slowing your system.
Free up storage space
PC running low on storage space can really bog down a PC. PC Manager provides integrated Storage Management tools for easily finding and deleting system files, old Windows installation data, cached app data, downloads, and other disk space wasters you likely no longer need.
Clearing up drive capacity through the Storage management interface allows your computer to operate faster with more room for active processes and data.
Manage startup services
If the PC takes too long to start, then startup services can be the reason behind it. Excess programs set to auto-launch each time you boot your PC can leach system resources and cause lag. PC Manager conveniently identifies all startup items and enables easily disabling any unnecessary ones with a click. Cutting down on such apps speeds up the boot process.
Lastly, keep an eye on the integrated resource monitoring in PC Manager. This shows current usage statistics for memory, CPU, storage, and network. Spikes in any area indicate an activity overload that could be slowing things down. The app also suggests potential fixes for overtaxed components.
