Recently, it was reported that WhatsApp is working on the ability to block users from taking screenshots of profile photos. Now, a new report has surfaced online suggesting that the Meta-owned app is developing a favourite contacts feature which will enable users to quickly place calls.
According to a report by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is working on a favourite contacts feature which will make it easier for users to quickly make WhatsApp calls.
The feature allowing users to designate favourite contacts is currently in progress and scheduled for release in an upcoming app update. These chosen favourites will be prominently showcased at the top of the calls tab, simplifying access to frequently contacted individuals with a single tap. Users will be empowered to manually select their favourite contacts from the contacts picker, guaranteeing a personalised experience tailored to individual preferences.
“With favorite contacts readily accessible at the top of the calls tab, users will be able to initiate calls with just a single tap, eliminating the need to sift through their entire contact list. This shortcut saves valuable time, particularly in urgent situations or when frequently contacting specific contacts,” mentions the report.
How Google may help solve ‘WhatsApp problem’ in India
According to the Economic Times, the American tech giant is preparing to introduce a fresh mobile phone messaging system in India, presenting a potential threat to WhatsApp’s stronghold in enterprise customer communication.
This move is projected to significantly impact the messaging scene nationwide, with Vodafone Idea (Vi) leading the charge through a collaboration with Google to offer Rich Communication Service (RCS) messaging to Indian enterprises. Analysts foresee the likelihood of Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel joining the initiative in the near future.
