Johnny Lever can be called a legend by many when it comes to comedy. The actor has spent many years in the industry and worked with every actor possible. He also cherishes working with each one of them and always has special anecdotes to share about them in his own quintessential style. In a recent interview, Johnny has shared his thoughts on Dharmendra who he is a fan of.
During a chat with Ranveer Allahbadia, Johnny said, “Dharam paji bahut daring wale hai. Jo real me hai waise he bahar bhi hai. Vo kisi se darte nhi hai. Boht achey insaan hai, both down-to-earth. Sar phira na toh vo dekhta nhi hai, vo de daalta hai kyunki vo jatt aadmi hai. Unke kissey hai. (Dharam paji is very daring. He is the same in reel and real life. He isn’t afraid of anyone. He is very good and very down-to-earth. Once he gets mad then he can’t keep calm. He is a Jatt. There are stories of him).”
Johnny recalled an incident which happened. He said that once Dharmendra met a fan in the lift and the fan said he couldn’t believe it. Dharam ji then slapped the fan and said, ‘ab yakeen hua’. Lever said that one was Dharmendra and one was Vinod Khanna, they were both very bold and people used to fear them but Dharmendra had to visit court many times. Later, he thought what has he gotten into. It all happens at a certain age but it doesn’t suit him. Johnny further added that he’s a huge fan of Dharmendra and has watched ‘Phool Aur Patthar 15 times’.
The actor spoke about Govinda as well who he has worked with in ‘Love 86’. Johnny says he enjoyed working with Govinda and has worked with him then on many movies. They meet sometimes now, but not very often, said Johnny.
