NEW DELHI: Former Indian cricketing sensation Yuvraj Singh has been appointed as the captain and icon player for the New York Superstar Strikers in the upcoming Legends Cricket Trophy (LCT) Season 2.
The announcement, made on Wednesday, adds a formidable edge to the team’s lineup, promising a thrilling display of cricketing prowess in the tournament.
Yuvraj’s leadership will guide a star-studded squad featuring renowned players such as Babar Azam, Rashid Khan, Keiron Pollard, and others.
With an impressive squad at his disposal, Yuvraj’s inclusion brings a wealth of experience, skill, and strategic acumen to the New York Superstar Strikers, enhancing their prospects for success in the upcoming tournament.

In a statement released by the franchise, Yuvraj’s addition was hailed as a significant boost to the team’s readiness to compete at the highest level in the Legends Cricket Trophy. His leadership qualities and cricketing expertise are expected to inspire and motivate the squad towards achieving their goals in the fiercely contested tournament.
The Legends Cricket Trophy Season 2 will see a shift to a 90-ball format, providing a unique and fast-paced cricketing experience for fans and players alike.
Scheduled to take place in Kandy, Sri Lanka from March 7 to 18, the tournament promises intense competition and thrilling encounters as teams vie for supremacy on the cricketing stage.
The inaugural season of the Legends Cricket Trophy, played in the 20-over format, witnessed the emergence of Indore Knights and Guwahati Avengers as joint winners after the final match was washed out.
With the transition to the LCT90BALLS format, teams will face new challenges and opportunities, with innovative rules allowing for strategic gameplay and dynamic performances.
In this format, each team will have five bowlers who can bowl three overs each, with the option for the captain to select one bowler to bowl four overs by the 60th ball. This rule adds an intriguing dimension to the game, offering captains the opportunity to strategically deploy their bowling resources for maximum impact.
