BENGALURU: The state government on Friday dismissed a doctor from service for doing a pre-wedding shoot along with his fiancée in the operation theatre of a govt hospital.
The incident occurred at the hospital in Bharamasagar (210 km from Bengaluru) in Chitradurga district, and the doctor has been identified as Abhishek, a contract physician. In the video, the doctor is seen doing a surgery on a fake patient’s stomach while the woman pretends to help him with surgical tools.A few photographers are also seen giggling in the background.
With the video going viral, the district health officer maintained that the shoot was done in anunused operation theatre (OT) and that a notice has been issued to the hospital administrator.
However, health minister Dinesh Gundu Rao ordered for the doctor’s dismissal. He stated: “Government hospitals exist for the healthcare of people and not for personal work. I cannot tolerate such indiscipline from doctors.”
All contract employees, including doctors and the staff performing duties in the health department, should perform their duties in accordance with the government service rules. I have already instructed the concerned doctors and all the staff to be careful so that such abuses do not happen in government hospitals.”
