The animal rights NGO Jivdaya Abhiyan recently got a helpline call that someone has thrown puppies in a gunny sack in an open gutter in Malad east. When the Jivdaya Abhiyan activists reached the gutter to pull out the sack, they were shocked to find a newborn baby girl feebly crying. Her cries were misunderstood to be that of puppies thrown out.
Din do shi police registered a case and sent the baby to a municipal hospital. The girl’s health is better now, and she is named Jivika.
