NEW DELHI: Young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal stole the spotlight on the second day of the second Test against England, delivering a spectacular double hundred. Jaiswal’s maiden double century, scoring 209 in 290 balls with 19 fours and seven sixes, was the highlight of the day.
In a post-match video shared by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Jaiswal expressed his joy, saying, “I enjoyed it, every ball, and it was quite nice to go out there and express myself.I cannot explain. I do not have words. It was just too enjoyable, and I felt happy.”
Reflecting on his mindset during the innings, Jaiswal stated, “I was thinking of making it big, 100 per cent. When I reached the double hundred, I wanted to celebrate and enjoy that moment.”

Describing his celebration, which included blowing kisses to the crowd, he added, “I just did like this, kisses all to my loved ones.”
Acknowledging the support from legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, who praised him on ‘X’, Jaiswal responded, “Thank you so much sir for all your support and wishes. I will keep trying and learning.”

At just 22 years old, Jaiswal has already made significant strides in international cricket. Becoming the third-youngest Indian player to score a Test double hundred, he joins the ranks of Vinod Kambli, Sourav Ganguly, Gautam Gambhir, and Sunil Gavaskar in achieving this feat.
With a promising track record, including double centuries in the Irani Cup, Duleep Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy, and Tests, Jaiswal’s temperament and hunger for big runs are evident. His performance in all formats, including 502 runs in 16 T20I innings, positions him as a potential all-format star for India.
