Sony is set to launch a remastered version of the drama horror title Until Dawn which was originally launched a decade ago. In its PlayStation blog, the Japanese developer notes that the new Until Dawn will have “an enhanced look and a completely new soundscape.” The upcoming title will be rebuilt using Unreal Engine 5 and will be developed by Ballistic Moon.The company confirmed that this title will arrive for PS5 consoles and PC in 2024. Sony has also uploaded a trailer video for the announcement of the of the upcoming game on PlayStations official YouTube channel. Watch the video here:

The company also noted that PlayStation Productions and Sony’s Screen Gems have also announced film adaptation of Until Dawn. The movie will be directed by David F. Sandberg and its screenplay will be written by Gary Dauberman and Blair Butler.

How Sony will improve the game

Sony claims that the Until Dawn has been rebuilt with the latest tools and techniques. The upcoming title will include new and improved animations build on the original character performances. However, to enhnace cinematic horror experience, the characters, environments and VFX have been upgraded.

The developers are also using “a broader cinematic tonal colour palette and new perspectives to make the story more nuanced and emotional.” In the upcoming game, “the dark, unseen corners of Blackwood Mountain” will be lighted up and the company is also adding a third-person camera to the game. This means that players will now be able to look behind the curtain of the original game. It will help gamers to explore new locations, interactions and collectables.
The upcoming game will also have a different score from the original Until Dawn’s which will provided by horror composer Mark Korven. More news on this enhanced version of Until Dawn is expected to arrive later in 2024.
