In a show of support, actor Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor has come forward to defend Deepika Padukone against allegations of being ‘stereotyped’ in her roles. The ‘Mirzya’ star, who was actively engaging on social media last evening, encountered a report suggesting that Padukone, known for her versatility, was being pigeonholed with her latest film choices.
The report went a step further, suggesting that the ‘Fighter’ actress required a ‘paradigm shift’ in her filmography, cautioning that time was running out.
Dismissing these claims, Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor took to Twitter to express his support for Deepika and her film choices. He vehemently defended her, stating, “Deepika’s performance in Gehraiyaan is one of the best performances of recent times by any actress…”Kapoor not only praised DP’s acting prowess but also demanded that she be given the respect she deserves. In a resolute stand, he emphasized, “she’s incredible.. has achieved a lot .. some respect.”
Deepika scored big at the box office in 2023, as both her film ‘Pathaan’ and ‘Jawan’, went on to score over Rs 1000 crore at the box office. Her January 2024 release ‘Fighter’ is currently flying high in theatres. The film crossed the Rs 140 crore mark at the domestic box office and shot past the $30 million mark at the international box office.

The star can look forward to another big year at the box office with the highly anticipated film ‘Kalki 2898 AD‘ gearing up for a May release. The sci-fi flick will see her starring alongside Prabhas for the first time.
