Apple is expected to launch its first-ever AR/VR headset, the Vision Pro, in the US on February 2. The mixed reality headset, which is likely to be the Cupertino-based tech giant’s ‘next big thing’ is already available for pre-orders. A latest report claims that several developers are in the process of preparing their apps for the mixed reality headset.
According to a report by MacRumors, sources have revealed that over 250 apps with native support for visionOS have been already submitted to Apple. The native visionOS support will allow developers to take full advantage of “spatial” design elements and offer more immersive features. Data compiled by app analytics firm Appfigures claims that other than Apple apps, popular third-party apps like Zoom, Telegram, Webex and more will also natively support VisionOS.

Vision Pro launch: Apps to expect

The report claims that developer Steve Troughton-Smith has shared App Store marketing images which reveals evidence about Microsoft offering a variety of native visionOS apps at launch. This includes apps like Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Teams.
Apart from the native apps, the ones available for iPhone and iPad will also be automatically available on the Vision Pro, if a developer opts out from the App Store connect tool. Apple has also claimed that more than one million apps will be available for the headset at launch.

Last week, the iPhone maker announced some of the entertainment apps that will be available with Vision Pro at the launch. This includes Disney+, ESPN, Discovery+, Amazon Prime Video, Paramount+, Peacock, TikTok and more.
In a press release, Disney said: “At launch, viewers can transform their space into one of four Disney+ environments, bringing them even closer to the story. Each environment includes animations and sounds that make the space feel alive, and Easter eggs from films and franchises that will surprise and delight fans.”
A few major companies like Netflix and YouTube may not launch any native apps for Vision Pro, while Spotify is still ‘unsure’ about a dedicated app for the upcoming device. However, users will be able to access these platforms via the Safari browser. On the other hand, Meta has also not confirmed if platforms like Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp will be available at launch.
