Ram Mandir inauguration: Security beefed up in DK, Udupi | India News – Times of India

MANGALURU: Mangaluru City police have made elaborate security arrangements in the wake of the inauguration of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya on Monday. City police commissioner Anupam Agrawal said that an elaborate bandobast has been made in the city to prevent any untoward incident.
On the precautionary measures taken, the officer said 196 places have been identified where pujas and religious functions have been planned. “At 131 sensitive places/picketing points within the city limits. staff and officers have been deployed round the clock. In addition, 57 vehicles (sector mobiles) have been deployed for continuous rounds within the city. At 14 places, checkpoints have been set up and nine City Armed Reserve (CAR) parties and three Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) platoons (striking parties) have been deployed to meet any exigency,” he said.
“Special rounds have been planned during the early hours and late night hours. At important places within the city, involving large gatherings of people, anti-sabotage checks will be carried out,” he added.
The commissioner further said that keeping with practice followed elsewhere in the state, no permission has been given to hold any kind of procession or rally. Peace committee meetings have already been conducted at all police stations under the leadership of respective ACPs. To instil confidence in the public, area domination exercises and route marches are being conducted at multiple places within the city.
“A strict watch is being kept over banners and flexes put up in the city, in coordination with municipal authorities. The organizers have also been instructed to ensure the safety of flexes put up by them. A proposal was sent to Dakshina Kannada district administration for the closure of bars and wine shops. A total of three DCPs, six ACPs, 11 police inspectors, 37 police sub-inspectors and 781 police personnel of various ranks have been deployed for the bandobast,” he said.
Similar arrangements have been made by Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district police. Udupi SP Arun K said elaborate bandobast has been made with two additional SPs, three DSPs, 10 inspectors, 47 sub-inspectors, 670 policemen, 100 home guards, three KSRP platoons and eight DAR companies being deployed.
Meanwhile, Dakshina Kannada SP CB Ryshyanth said KSRP and DAR platoons have been deployed across Dakshina Kannada district police limits. “Police are monitoring posts on social media.
