Several celebrities including Rashmika Mandanna, Kajol, Katrina Kaif, and Alia Bhatt, have become victims of deepfake videos, raising alarms about the misuse of technology and the lack of adequate legal safeguards. The most recent addition to this unfortunate list is Nora Fatehi.
Taking to her Instagram stories on Saturday, Nora reposted an advertisement from the handle of a clothing brand which featured a lady bearing a striking resemblance to Nora, endorsing an end-of-season sale.Expressing her shock and concern, Nora wrote, “SHOCKED!!! This is not me!”

This incident comes after the Delhi Police‘s claim to have arrested the individual responsible for creating a deepfake video featuring Rashmika Mandanna. The accused, identified as 24-year-old Eemani Naveen from Andhra Pradesh’s Guntur, was apprehended after the video went viral on social media last November.

Deepfake technology, which involves the use of artificial intelligence to create realistic-looking videos or images of individuals saying or doing things they never did, has become a growing concern globally. The entertainment industry, in particular, has been a prime target for such malicious activities.

As Nora joins the chorus of celebrities voicing their concerns about the dangers of deepfake videos, it remains to be seen how the industry and regulatory bodies will respond to address this growing threat to privacy and security in the digital age.
