NEW DELHI: A man allegedly killed his newborn son while under the influence of alcohol in Madhya Pradesh‘s Betul district. The alleged motive behind the crime was his disappointment at not having a daughter, according to the police.
The incident took place on Sunday evening in Bajjarwada village, under the jurisdiction of Kotwali police station. The accused, identified as Anil Uikey, was intoxicated when he assaulted his wife and forcefully took their 12-day-old son from her, revealed Ashish Singh Pawar, the in-charge of Kotwali police station, as reported by PTI.
Fearing further harm, the woman managed to escape from the spot.However, upon her return, she discovered their baby lifeless inside their hut. The official stated that the baby had visible strangulation marks on his neck.
An FIR has been registered against Uikey under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and he has been arrested. During the investigation, the accused confessed that he already had two sons and had hoped for a daughter when his third child was born, shared the official.
