WhatsApp has announced that iPhone users can now create, edit and share their own stickers without having to leave the app or using drag-and-drop from your image gallery or unofficial third party apps.
“For adding some fun to your chats, or bringing to life a group joke, now you can quickly and creatively turn your own photos into stickers, or personalise existing ones,” WhatsApp said, adding that the new functionality also offers the security of WhatsApp’s end-to-end-encryption.

Stickers on WhatsApp can be quickly created by using functionalities like auto-crop as well as a suite of other editing tools including text, drawing, and even the ability to overlay other stickers. Once sent, the sticker is automatically saved in the sticker tray so that users can resend whenever they like.
How to create a sticker from an image:
Open your sticker tray by selecting the sticker icon to the right of the text box
Select ‘create sticker’ and choose an image from your gallery
Customise your sticker by choosing a cutout and adding text, other stickers or drawing on it and hit send
How to edit an existing sticker:
Open your sticker tray by selecting the sticker icon to the right of the text box
Long press the sticker you wish to edit, and select ‘edit sticker’
Customise your sticker by adding text, other stickers or drawing on it and hit send
It is to be noted that sticker maker is already available on WhatsApp Web and is rolling out on iOS 17+ over the coming days. Those using older iOS versions will be able to edit existing stickers but not create new ones.
