NEW DELHI: SC on Thursday extended the interim medical bail granted to Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Nawab Malik by another six months after his plea was not opposed by Enforcement Directorate (ED). He was first granted bail on medical grounds in August last year.
A bench of Justice Bela M Trivedi and Pankaj Mithal after Additional Solicitor General S V Raju, appearing for ED, did not object to Malik’s request for extension of bail.
ED had arrested the former minister in February 2022 in a money laundering case registered over the Goawala compound property in Kurla, allegedly linked to fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim.
On August 11 last year, SC had granted him bail for two months and it was further extended on October 13.
“Temporary medical bail of petitioner extended by six months as prayed for. List the main matter after six months,” apex court said.
