HYDERABAD: Adani Defence & Aerospace (ADA) handed over its first indigenously manufactured Drishti 10 Starliner Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) for the Indian Navy to the Indian Navy on Wednesday at its facility in Hyderabad.
The flag-off ceremony was led by Admiral R Hari Kumar (PVSM, AVSM, VSM, ADC), Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), India Navy, who was present at the event with 75 Navy personnel.Post the handing over, the UAV will leave from Hyderabad to Porbandar for its induction into naval maritime operations.
The UAV is an advanced intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) platform with 36 hours endurance and a payload capacity of 450 kg. It is an advanced all-weather military platform with STANAG 4671 certification and clear to fly in both segregated and unsegregated airspace, Adani Aerospace & Defence said.
The flag-off ceremony was led by the chief guest Admiral R Hari Kumar (PVSM, AVSM, VSM, ADC), Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), India Navy who was present at the event with 75 Navy personnel, as the UAV leaves from Hyderabad to Porbandar to be inducted into naval maritime operations.
The Indian Navy chief termed it as a momentous occasion and transformative step in India’s quest for self-reliance in ISR technology and maritime supremacy.
“Adani has demonstrated its commitment to unmanned systems having worked systematically over the last many years to develop local capabilities not limited to manufacturing but sustenance through MRO. Drishti 10’s integration into our naval operations will enhance our naval capabilities, strengthening our preparedness for the ever-evolving maritime surveillance and reconnaissance,” he said.
Adani Enterprises VP and Gautam Adani’s son Jeet Adani said: “The recent geopolitical events have reinforced the convergence of physical, informational and cognitive tactics underpinned by intelligence, information processing capabilities, use of unmanned systems, and cyber for dissemination of information and disinformation. ADA CEO Ashish Rajvanshi said the flag-off of Drishti 10 Starliner UAV is a watershed moment in the journey towards self-sufficiency and indigenization of advanced technologies.
“This event marks a significant transformation in India’s roadmap towards strategic autonomy and technological leadership in unmanned capabilities. Our on-time delivery to Indian Navy is a testament to our robust quality management processes and excellent support from our partners who have worked diligently over the last 10 months from contract to delivery, and ensured more than 70% indigenisation,” Rajvanshi said.
