NEW DELHI: Embracing regions from Anjaw, Arunachal Pradesh’s crown jewel, to Devbhumi Dwaraka on Gujarat’s western shore, to scaling Ladakh’s icy peaks and gracing Andaman’s turquoise shores, the ongoing Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra (VBSY) on Friday crossed a milestone of reaching out to over 10 crore people in a short span of 50 days since its launch.
On the birth anniversary of tribal icon Bhagwan Birsa Munda on November 15, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the nationwide campaign from Khunti in Jharkhand intending to reach out to citizens who are eligible for various central welfare schemes but have not benefitted so far.
This staggering number of reaching out to the beneficiaries in barely 50 days indicated the profound impact and unmatched ability of the campaign in uniting people across the nation towards a shared vision of “Viksit Bharat) (developed India), a slogan, the Modi government has mooted to attain by 2047 when the country will complete 100 years of independence.
Incidentally, the number of participants in the VBSY is higher than the entire population of some of the major countries like Australia, Canada, Germany, France, Italy and South Africa. “The massive support for the yatra demonstrates the steadfast dedication of citizens to build a Viksit Bharat,” a senior government functionary said.
A government statement claimed that since its launch, over 7.5 crore individuals have pledged their commitment to contribute to building India into a developed nation by 2047.
Facilitating a record number of beneficiaries with welfare schemes shows the campaign’s impact as profound and life-changing. Over 1.7 crore Ayushman Cards have been issued and more than 2.2 crore citizens have been screened at the Health Camps during the campaign.
As per government records, more than 7.5 lakh beneficiaries have availed the benefits of the PM SVANidhi scheme taking a step towards financial independence.
More than 33 lakh new PM KISAN beneficiaries have been enrolled during the yatra. More than 87000 drone demonstrations have been held that provide technological assistance to the farmers.
“The campaign is more than just a march; it’s a powerful call to action reverberating across the nation. The efforts made today to bring about change, promise a prosperous future ahead,” a senior functionary said and added, “This movement aims to empower each citizen of the country and make a bold resolution to bring India closer to its goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047.”
A government functionary said that going by the success of the campaign, more than 15 crore people will be reached out when the campaign concludes on January 25, a day before the country celebrates Republic Day.
“We have laid special focus on the tribal-dominated regions in rural areas when over 3500 vehicles have been deployed as more than 35 lakh people are being connected each day,” the government functionary said.
