NEW DELHI: Indian cricket stars Virat Kohli and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja are among the four nominees for the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy awarded to the ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year for 2023.
The other two players to have been nominated are Australia’s World-Cup winning skipper Pat Cummins and the hero of the final Travis Head.
Kohli is vying for his third Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy following remarkable run-scoring achievements in 2023.Last year, Kohli surpassed ICC Hall of Famer Sachin Tendulkar with a historic 50th ODI century and holds the Player of the Tournament accolade from CWC23. Additionally, he amassed an impressive total of 2048 international runs.
His stupendous run in the World Cup, helped India reach the finals. The batter hit 765 runs, the most by any player in any single edition of the World Cup.
Jadeja took 66 wickets – more than any other player – and recorded 613 runs across formats in 2023, providing valuable contributions in India’s spin attack on their way to two finals.

Pat Cummins had a truly remarkable 2023, winning ICC World Test Championship Final and the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Final.
Cummins, a recipient of the ICC Test Cricketer of the Year in 2019, reached new heights in 2023, demonstrating exceptional captaincy skills and delivering stellar performances with the ball by claiming 59 wickets in both Tests and ODIs.
Head had a significant year, playing a key role in Australia’s victorious campaign. Emerging as a player for crucial moments in 2023, he showcased his batting prowess in both finals, earning the Player of the Match award. The all-rounder accumulated nearly 1700 runs across various formats and made valuable contributions by taking important wickets with the ball.
