NEW DELHI: Pakistan’s team director, Mohammad Hafeez, became the target of social media banter after reports surfaced that he missed his flight to Sydney ahead of the third Test against Australia.
The news was met with humorous comments, particularly from the ‘X’ handle of Iceland cricket, known for its sarcastic and witty posts. The handle quipped, “All that talent, and now even the Aussie airlines are out to get him!”

Hafeez, who missed the flight along with his wife, was supposed to travel with the Pakistan team for the final Test against Australia.Australia have already secured an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
Sources from Geo News revealed that Hafeez arrived late at the airport, resulting in the staff denying him and his wife boarding on the scheduled flight. They eventually caught another flight to Sydney hours later.

Following the second Test, an emotionally charged Hafeez expressed confidence in Pakistan‘s performance, stating, “We played better cricket as a team. I’m proud of that. The way the team had the courage to attack this game in the best possible way.”
Despite acknowledging mistakes that cost them the game, Hafeez highlighted the positives, emphasizing the team’s improved batting intent and precision in bowling.
Pakistan aim to secure their first Test victory on Australian soil since 1995 as they face Australia in the final Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), which starts on Wednesday.
