BIJNOR: Five people, including a 40-year-old transgender, were arrested for plotting to kill another transgender and “hiring contact killers by offering them Rs 2 lakh for the work” at Najibabad in Bijnor. Police foiled their plan and the accused were nabbed after an encounter with cops on Monday.
Bijnor SP, Neeraj Kumar Jadaun, said, “Police got a tip-off about the presence of criminals at Mozzampur Tulsi Garhi village. The cops surrounded the place. Four accused were camping in a mango orchard. When the cops tried to arrest them, they fired at them. Police managed to foil their attack and arrested them.”
The SP added: “During interrogation, they told the cops that they were hatching a plan to eliminate Heena, a transgender. Another transgender Naina had given a contract of Rs 2 lakh to kill Heena. Naina also confessed to her crime. She told the cops that she had a spat with Heena over area distribution.”
Police registered a case against the accused under IPC sections 307 (attempt to murder), among others. Those arrested were Naina from Rampura and her aides Prince Tomar, Nitin, Shahnawaz and Mahruddin.
