NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with a group of 250 students from various districts of Jammu and Kashmir in the national capital as part of the ‘Watan Ko Jano’ Youth Exchange programme. The students, hailing from underprivileged backgrounds, are currently on a 12-day exposure visit, touring cities such as Jaipur, Ajmer and Delhi.
The event was kickstarted by commissioner secretary of the social welfare department, Sheetal Nanda, who flagged off the group along with 10 coordinators and caretakers. The ‘Watan Ko Jano’ programme, organized by the J&K Rehabilitation Council in collaboration with the Union ministry of home affairs, seeks to provide recreational facilities to the participating students.
The primary objective of the youth exchange programme is to expose young individuals from Jammu and Kashmir, especially those affected by militancy and residing in facilities like Palaash and Parish Homes run by the social welfare department, to the diverse social, cultural, and technological aspects of the country.
The ‘Watan Ko Jano’ Youth Exchange programme provides participants with a firsthand experience of India’s rich social and cultural heritage, along with its significant technological advancements.
