In a recent development, Sahil Khan has filed a plea with the Bombay High Court seeking the quashing of the FIR lodged against him in connection with an online betting app.This move comes after the sessions court dismissed his pre-arrest bail plea earlier this month, citing substantial evidence. According to a report by The Free Press Journal, Sahil Khan approached the High Court after the sessions judge highlighted significant evidence, leading to the rejection of his pre-arrest bail plea. The actor contends that he had no involvement with any betting app and denounces the FIR. He calls it ‘wrong, false, bogus, illegal.” He added the FIR had been filed with malafide intentions. His legal counsel asserts that the FIR lacks merit and emphasizes that Khan was not engaged in illicit activities.
Further, with the next hearing scheduled for February 2024, Sahil Khan seeks a stay on the ongoing probe against him until early next year. Additionally, he urges the court to restrain coercive actions by the police.
Meanwhile, authorities claim that the applications used over 2,000 fake SIM cards and more than 17,000 bogus bank accounts. The police underscore the extensive nature of the fraud, pointing out the large-scale promotion of online betting on Telegram through over 1,000 channels.
