Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi Corp has dismissed three employees for spreading rumours about Xiaomi car. According to the company, these employees have been dismissed for seriously misleading the market and interrupting the normal operation of Xiaomi cars.
Xiaomi is reported to have moved closer to EV production, with a unit of automaker BAIC Group applying for regulatory approval to build two Xiaomi-branded cars.
Xiaomi’s first car Xiaomi SU7 to come in three versions
Last month, Xiaomi’s first car — Xiaomi SU7 — was revealed in Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) filings in China. The electric sedan EV Xiaomi SU7 will be contract-manufactured by Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Co Ltd (BAIC) and feature Xiaomi’s popular ‘Mi’ branding. According to the MIIT filing, there will be three versions on offer i.e. SU7, SU7 Pro and SU7 Max.
Report suggests that the Xiaomi SU7 measures 4,997 mm in length, 1,963 mm in width, stands 1,455 mm tall and boasts a 3,000 mm long wheelbase, with wheel sizes ranging from 19-inches to 20-inches. Depending on the version, the electric sedan tips the scale at 1,980 – 2,205 kg. On the entry-level trim(s), Xiaomi will offer a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery sourced from BYD, while the higher variants will be equipped with a larger CATL battery pack.
Xiaomi is said to offer the SU7 with two powertrain options – a rear-wheel-drive version with a 220 kW (295 hp) motor and a top speed of 210 kmph, along with a dual-motor, four-wheel-drive version with 495 kW (664 hp) of maximum power and a 265 kmph top speed.
