Back in 2022, Apple announced the all-new CarPlay at its WWDC event. During the event, the company showcased the entire functionality of the new CarPlay setup and how it offers “the best iPhone experience for cars”.
Fast forward to 2023, car makers have already started implementing the system into their cars. Porsche and Aston Martin have showcased their versions of the new CarPlay implementations. Aston Martin wasn’t even there in Apple’s list of support brands that would support next-generation Apple CarPlay.
Cool Hunting and Car and Driver has reported that both the brands will be the first to support next-generation CarPlay in 2024.
Specific car models are unknown
Notably, both the brands have showcased how they will implement the CarPlay in their cars. They haven’t yet announced the exact model or the launch timeline for the cars that would come with the next-generation CarPlay support. We expect that Apple CarPlay support will expand to different models from both the brands.
It is still the case that we don’t exactly know when the actual car with Apple CarPlay support will launch. Both the brands have not revealed any exact car details. Also, we don’t know whether the next-generation CarPlay support will be limited to newer car models or will also extend to older cars via a software update.
CarPlay features
Apple’s next-generation CarPlay brings together the car features and the iPhone feature to seamlessly integrate them into one single place. Moreover, it includes features like radio, temperature control and more vehicle features. Also, it expands to all the screens including instrument clusters.
The current implementation from the brands includes apps (in grid design), Apple Maps integration, now playing information along with speedometer information, gauge cluster and several other details.
