A few days ago, Bobby Deol had revealed that his character Abrar was supposed to kiss Ranbir Kapoor‘s character Ranvijay Singh in the climax scene of Animal. Now, director Sandeep Reddy Vanga has shared more insights into removing this particular scene on the edit table.
He told Galatta Plus that there was a scene where Bobby will kiss Ranbiron the cheek and say, ‘Bhai, I didn’t even spend one day with my father’, and he’ll go back and open his zip.He said that the scene looked outstanding when they were shooting but he felt like the kiss was diluting the zip.
Sharing the reason why he removed this scene, Sandeep said that it was because Bobby gave this expression with a smirk and a tear falls down his cheek. “I felt that was a bigger cinematic high than coming and kissing,” he said.

‘Animal’ director Sandeep Reddy Vanga says ‘only 15-20 jokers’ think that the film is ‘misogynistic’: ‘It’s a wrong word to use…’

Earlier, Bobby had shared that the kissing scene between him and Ranbir might come on the uncut Netflix version. He also mentioned that it was Sandeep’s idea to shoot him unzipping his pants. The director had also told him to him Ranbir and lie on top of him to suggest that Abrar was more powerful than Ranvijay.

Speaking about Bobby’s unzipping moment with Ranbir, Sandeep said that it was a clear indication that his entire heroism might die in the climax. “But the way Ranbir looks, and even he has tears, and the way he removes the cover of the knife… The way he took a turn, and the sunset is happening, all that really helped the scene. Superb it was,” he said.

Animal also starred Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Rashmika Mandanna and Tripti Dimri. The film received polarising reactions from the critics and audiences but it managed to create wonders at the box office. The film has raked in over Rs 500 crore in India, making it one of the most successful films of 2023.
