NEW DELHI: The Special Cell of the Delhi Police is actively monitoring the social media activities of Lalit Jha, the alleged mastermind behind the breach of Parliament security. The focus is particularly on certain posts made by Lalit, one of which explicitly states, “What India needs is a bomb.”
According to information from the Special Cell, Lalit posted this controversial statement on his social media handle on October 26, several weeks prior to the Parliament security breachon December 13.Subsequently, he continued to make provocative posts in Bengali, expressing the need for a forceful response against tyranny, injustice, and anarchy.
Delhi Police sources indicate that Lalit has a history of making inflammatory posts on social media. In a post dated November 5, he asserted that anyone advocating for livelihood and rights is unfairly labeled a ‘communist.’
Given the nature of Lalit’s social media content, the Special Cell is investigating his online connections and interactions. They are keen on determining whom Lalit was in contact with on social media and scrutinizing the content of those interactions.
The Special Cell suspects that Lalit may use social media to mislead people. Additionally, sources within Delhi Police reveal that Lalit has been deliberately misleading investigators since his arrest.
The Special Cell has reached out to telecom service providers for information on Lalit and the other four accused individuals. Simultaneously, the team is conducting on-ground verification of leads obtained from Lalit.
Furthermore, Delhi Police sources disclose that Lalit, following a manhunt, has been destroying mobile phones to obstruct the investigation. He reportedly destroyed five mobile phones in Rajasthan’s Kuchaman, where he fled after the Parliament security breach.
It is noted that prior to the incident, all four accused handed over their mobile phones to Lalit to prevent crucial evidence from falling into the hands of investigators. This action suggests that the accused were anticipating their arrest.
In Kuchaman, Lalit met his friend Mahesh, whom he had connected with through Facebook. Mahesh facilitated accommodation for Lalit for the night. Despite Lalit’s attempts to destroy evidence, Delhi Police are diligently pursuing leads and scrutinizing his connections to uncover the full extent of his alleged activities.
