NEW DELHI: Foreign secretary Vinay Kwatra, on Saturday, informed that Israel-Hamas conflict in the middle east remained an important topic of discussion between PM Narendra Modi and Oman’s Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik.
He further informed that the discussions between the two nations was comprehensive and constructive’, informing that the bilateral trade between India and Oman stood at rouhly twelve and a half billion between 2022-23.
PM Modi and Sultan of Oman signed a joint vision agreement to pave the way for bilateral collaboration in a variety of areas such as maritime, connectivity, green energy, space, digital payments, health, tourism, agriculture, and food security, Kwatra said.
Highlighting the importance of the event, Kwatra said, “An important achievement in terms of India-Oman trade and capital cooperation was the announcement of the third tranche of the Oman-India Joint Investment Fund.”
Talking about the 50-50 joint venture between the State Bank of India and the Oman Investment Authority, he said “This fund would be worth 300 million dollars, approximately 2500 crores, purely as a point of elaboration.”
“The fund was established as a 50-50 joint venture between the State Bank of India and the Oman Investment Authority, which essentially channeled investments into the fastest-growing sectors of the Indian economy,” he added.
The two leaders agreed on a new ‘India-Oman shared vision, a partnership for the future,’ under which the two countries will collaborate in ten areas.
